MYRIAM BÉDARD AWARD
PURPOSE
To formally recognize individuals who have
displayed extraordinary dedication and commitment in the achievement of
excellence in the sport of Biathlon.
This may be seen by
athletes, coaches or other people involved in working towards the achievement
of the mission of the association.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT
The Biathlon
Canada Myriam Bédard Award will be located within the National Office, where
an acknowledgment of the achievements of the recipient will be kept for public
viewing.
GOVERNANCE
The Biathlon
Canada Executive Committee will appoint a Chair of the Awards and
Recognition Committee who reports directly to the Executive Committee.
The
Awards and Recognition Committee shall consist of not more than 3 members.
The
Executive Director of Biathlon Canada shall be an ex-officio member and the
Secretary of the Committee.
ANNOUNCEMENT
The recipient of
the Myriam Bédard Award will be announced at the Biathlon Canada Banquet in
conjunction with the Board of Director Meeting held every June. Other event
and date considerations include the Canadian National Championships.
* - Please
note that this award is not the same as the Canadian
Cadet Biathlon Myriam Bédard Award presented each year at the Cadet
National Biathlon Championships.
NOMINATION
PROCEDURES
1. Nominations
shall be made in writing and must be filed with the Executive Director c/o the
Biathlon Canada Office by the 1st of June of each year.
Each
nomination must be accompanied by citation covering; in as great detail as
possible, how the nominated person demonstrated extraordinary dedication and
commitment in the achievement of excellence in the sport of Biathlon.
2. Nominations
may originate from an individual, club, association, or by a member of the Awards
and Recognition Committee.
3.
The
Committee shall have the responsibility to ensure the integrity and quality of
the Myriam Bédard Award is maintained.
The
number of members inducted in any one year shall be at the sole discretion of
the Committee. The
Committee shall not be obligated to admit anyone in any given year.
4.
The
Executive Director shall send out to each member of the Committee, a copy of
each nomination and recommendation received and all supporting material,
together with the names of their respective nominators.
This
shall be done following the close of nominations.
5.
A
nomination shall be valid for a two-year period only.
There
is no limit to the number of times a nomination may be submitted.
6.
The
recipients shall be announced at the Annual General Meeting of Biathlon Canada
and details on the nomination shall be given at the meeting.
